Mladá Boleslav, 14th June, 2013 – ŠKODA is to participate in the Paul Pietsch Classic 2013 with two legendary ŠKODA cars. The racing car Laurin & Klement 300 from 1923 and the elegant ŠKODA Felicia convertible from 1961 will be at the starting line in the Black Forest. The vintage car rally takes place on the 15th and 16th of June for the second time, in honour of the late rally driver and publisher, Paul Pietsch, who died in 2012.

Another highlight for ŠKODA in this year's classic rally season: Only a week after taking part in the Kitzbühel Alpine Rally, the Czechs will be participating in the Paul Pietsch Classic with two legendary vintage cars. "The L&K 300 and Felicia Convertible are two magnificent vehicles from our museum collection and represent the rich variety of  ŠKODA's history," says Eva Ticová, restoration workshop manager at the ŠKODA museum.

The L&K 300 from 1923 is already a household name with the in-crowd, regularly wooing both spectators and participants alike at vintage car events. The striking ochre hue, high-built, open body, and the boisterous sound of the engine make the hearts of vintage car enthusiasts beat faster. Under the bonnet of the internal, otherwise known as 'Makina' L&K 300, you will find a 50 HP, water-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine with a 4.7 litre (4,713 cc) displacement. The rear wheels are driven by a four-stage transmission with reverse. The L&K 300 has a top speed of 100 km/h and a cruising speed of 60 km/h.

The ŠKODA Felicia Convertible from 1961 is another very welcome guest at renowned vintage car events. This stylish convertible is a real eye-catcher with its turquoise-blue paintwork to really give it that 1960s feel. A 50HP, 1,089cc, four-cylinder engine provides the propulsion for the two-seater and a four-speed gearbox transmits a torque of 74.5 Nm to the rear wheels. Max speed: 130 km/h.

The Paul Pietsch Classic takes place this year for the second time, in honour of the late racing driver and publisher, Paul Pietsch, who died at the age of over 100 in 2012. A 400km journey along bucolic mountain roads, looking over the beautiful Black Forest takes the participants two days to complete. Vehicles produced up until 1993 can be entered into the race. The number of participants is limited to 102, corresponding to the age that Paul Pietsch would have reached in 2013.

The eponym of the rally came from Freiburg in Breisgau/Black Forest and was an internationally successful racing driver in the 1930s and in the period after the Second World War. By 1964 he had co-founded the magazine 'Das Auto', which later became the renowned magazine 'Auto Motor and Sport' and 'Motor Presse Stuttgart'.
