Mladá Boleslav/Reifnitz, 2 June 2014 – Spectacular ŠKODA appearance at the 33 GTI fan meet at Wörthersee, with highlights at the ŠKODA stand including the two world premieres of the ŠKODA Yeti Xtreme and ŠKODA CitiJet. In addition to the two emotional design studies, visitors were also hepped up about the ŠKODA Octavia Estate RS, the ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback Red & Grey, as well as the ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 rally car. There was also action on the race track with the 'Crazy Rally Ride' in mini rally cars.
The legendary tuning event was held for the 33rd time during last week's long weekend (28 to 31 May). ŠKODA took part of the fifth time at the GTI fan meet.
The ŠKODA Yeti Xtreme was the acclaimed star of the ŠKODA stand. This model is a strong compact SUV with rally ambition and first class technology: a 1.8 TSI turbocharged petrol engine, six-speed DSG gearbox, maximum torque 250 Nm between 1500 and 4200 rpms, from 0 to 100 km/h in nine seconds, 192 km/h top speed, brakes from the Octavia RS and height-adjustable suspension. Design highlights: Colour matt-grey, 17-inch alloys, tinted windows, powerful bumpers, LED headlights, striking fenders, strong sills, and two broad exhaust pipes. In addition, the interior features the appropriate rally equipment.
Another ŠKODA eye catcher at Wörthersee was the design study ŠKODA CitiJet – a dynamically designed city convertible based on the ŠKODA Citigo. The two-seater presented to the public for the first time at this event is the result of the 'ŠKODA Apprentice Car' project. The ŠKODA CitiJet features a distinctive metallic finish in blue & white and sporty white/blue painted 16-inch alloy wheels, it also sports a hand-crafted rear spoiler and a powerful twin exhaust. Looking under the bonnet, you can find a 1.0 MPI petrol engine with 55 kW (75 hp). The sporty interior is based on the special edition ŠKODA Citigo SPORT. Extras on board: a special 300W sound system with blue LED interior lighting that reacts to music.
In addition, ŠKODA presented three other model highlights at this year's Wörthersee event; one of the main attractions being the ŠKODA Octavia Combi RS – the successful estate version of the fastest series production ŠKODA Octavia of all time. The ŠKODA Octavia Combi RS 2.0 TSI/162 kW accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 248 km/h. The eye catcher was as well the ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback Red & Grey – a sporty edition of the brand's first compact hatchback model. ŠKODA's sporty quintet was rounded off with one of the world's most successful rally cars, the ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000.
In addition to the emotional model programme, ŠKODA offered the visitors rapid live racing action in miniature: 'Crazy Rally Ride'. Visitors were able to put their driving skills to the test in mini rally cars around a specially designed circuit next to the ŠKODA stand.
