Škoda Auto Russia announced launch of a full-cycle production of the new Škoda Fabia in the frame of the Russian premiere of the car that took place on April 28 at Kaluga factory. Škoda Fabia became the second model in Škoda line-up to be produced in full-cycle including welding, painting and assembly. Previous version of Fabia has been built at Kaluga factory by SKD. The first model to be shifted to a CKD-production became Škoda Octavia.

Fabia is a best-seller of Skoda model line-up in the Russian and global markets. In 2009 264 173 Fabias have been sold globally what is 7.1 % up comparing to 2008 results. In Russia Fabia became Skoda's best seller in 2009.

"Over the past years Skoda has been very successful and demonstrated once again sales record in 2009. Gradual development of our activities in the growing markets such as Russia, India and China was an important background for our success. With our investments in Kaluga production, dealer network and products we will continue strengthening our positions in the Russian market", - said Reinhard Jung, head of Škoda Auto board of directors.

In this connection further development of our production capacities is one of the company's primary objectives. We have already achieved success in this direction – all Škoda models are produced at the Russian factory in Kaluga, providing attractive price-quality ratio to our clients, faster reaction to the local market changes and to the Russian customers' requirements. In October 2009 we started full-cycle production of Škoda Octavia, today we are ready to announce the start of the second model production by CKD. It is Škoda Fabia, such a popular in the Russian market. Today we are proud to say that Škoda Fabia became the second all-Russian car of our brand, that we are happy to demonstrate for the first time at our factory!"

New Fabia will be available at all official dealerships in the beginning of May 2010. In April Škoda Auto announced the start of orders for the new Fabia. Regardless significant changes the prices for all versions of Fabia remained the same.

Škoda Fabia together with Škoda Octavia are participating in the state credit and scrappage incentive programs in Russia. Special terms of car purchase make this model affordable to the utmost. Success of Fabia allowed Škoda to gain the leading positions in a compact car segment in Russia.
