Mladá Boleslav, 22 April, 2013 – ŠKODA´s factory crew, Jan Kopecký/Pavel Dresler, will appear at the Azores Rally as the current ERC leaders, their ambition before the fourth event of the 2013 ERC being to continue their success story in this year´s European Championship. The SATA Rally Azores is scheduled for April 25 – 27.

ŠKODA´s (factory crew) Kopecký/Dresler have made two appearances in this year´s ERC and celebrated victory in both cases. Their ambition before the next ERC event that takes place on the island of Sao Miguel is therefore clear: "We want to continue our success story and achieve the best possible result in the Azores. It will not be simple, because the competition is tough and the tracks are tricky. Moreover, the oceanic weather conditions are highly variable. This event is certainly one of the most difficult rallies, but also one of the most beautiful ones. The special stage around the flooded volcano is one of the loveliest I have ever done," says the driver of the factory Fabia Super 2000.

Kopecký is about to make his fourth appearance in the Azores, with the best result achieved in 2009 (second place). ŠKODA has been appearing in the Azores Islands regularly since 2009, and celebrated victory in the last two years when the SATA Rally Azores was still part of the IRC championship. Moreover, the brand swept the podium in 2011.

This year´s event will offer 241 special-stage kilometres divided into 19 special stages. For the first time in history, the event will be spiced with a qualifying stage.

The SATA Rally Azores is one of the most attractive events of the series. Difficult special stages in unusual locations, beautiful wild sceneries and typically oceanic weather – all these make this event one of the climaxes of the season.

The event to take place on the island of Sao Miguel will see another innovation this year – live coverage on Eurosport and the ERC website www.fiaerc.com.
