Mladá Boleslav, September 16th, 2011 – ŠKODA will again support the ŠKODA Economy Run this year. At the 30th edition of the fuel efficiency competition with ŠKODA models, the objective once again lies in the completion of a given distance with the lowest consumption possible. 62 teams will be at the start of the circuit near Mladá Boleslav at the coming weekend. Start and finish of the competition that is organized by the Automotoklub Mladá Bolesla will be in Kosmonosy.

Models of all five ŠKODA series will be at the start of the approx. 350 kilometer long route. Scoring will take place in eight categories on the basis of the engine displacement; furthermore, there will be special categories called "ŠKODA Handy" and "Historic". Scores are awarded for overall fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, the average speed, and the difference between the actual consumption and the prescribed standard. Besides the teams from the Czech Republic, the field of entrants is comprised of driver teams from Poland, Slovakia, and Russia. For the first time, physically challenged drivers will compete as well. The circuit begins in Kosmonosy, with an intermediate destination in Trutnov.

The smooth technical execution of the Economy Run will be ensured by the ŠKODA Customer Service Department. It will provide the premises as well as perform the technical preparation and inspection of the participants' vehicles.

"We are happy to have been supporting this competition for many years," says Roman Havlásek, head of the ŠKODA Customer Service Department. The Economy Run is a great project for ŠKODA enthusiasts. Year after year, the participants demonstrate just how economically the vehicles of our brand can be driven. Naturally, this applies primarily to the current GreenLine models. But the results by the historical model years are quite impressive as well."
