Mladá Boleslav, 9th April 2013 – The ŠKODA Parts Center in Mladá Boleslav is now completely finished. The fully automatic, high-rack warehouse commenced operation today. The company has invested a total of 31.8 million Euros into the new centre. The ŠKODA Parts Center handles around 25,000 deliveries every day and is an integral part of the global supply of Genuine Parts and Accessories for ŠKODA AUTO as well as VW, Audi and Seat Group brands. It is the Czech Republic's largest Genuine Parts Centre.

"The ŠKODA Parts Center is an important element in ŠKODA's and the Group's plans for growth," says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing. He continues, "Through this extensive expansion and modernization, we can quickly, efficiently and competently serve the increasing demand for parts and accessories."

The ŠKODA Parts Center is one of the VW Group's three European central warehouses. "We will have increased our range of parts and accessories by almost 50% to 214,000 items before 2018," says Roman Havlásek, Head of ŠKODA Genuine Parts and Accessories.

As part of the modernization, the total area of the central warehouse doubled from 50,000 m2 to more than 100,000 m2. This area is roughly the size of twelve football pitches. The eleven aisles of the 42 metre tall, high-rack warehouse can store 30,000 pallets. The storage and retrieval of replacement parts and accessories is fully automatic. Each of the aisles has its own automatic stacker crane, which can shift more than 200 pallets an hour.

Deliveries of Genuine Parts and Accessories are prepared and carried out around the clock. Approximately 500 employees work in a three-shift pattern to process more than 25,000 orders a day. Every day, around 9,500 items are shipped off to more than 100 countries. Inland shipments are always delivered by the next morning and European deliveries, outside of the Czech Republic, take a maximum of 24 hours.
