ŠKODA LAUNCHES FABIA MONTE CARLO

12. 01. 2011

Kategorie: FABIA

Mladá Boleslav, 12 January, 2011 – The Fabia line is about to be extended with Monte Carlo, a new model to be offered as a hatchback fitted with a sports chassis. Launched on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Škoda's motorsport efforts, this special edition model boasts a dynamic look underlined by black accessories and the RS interior. The first introduction to the public is scheduled for the Monte Carlo Rally this year in January; the exhibition premiere is planned for the Geneva Motor Show later this year.

Referring to Škoda's tradition of motorsport excellence, the sports-tuned Fabia Monte Carlo will make its debut at the Monte Carlo Rally where the brand's current rally car, the Fabia S2000, has made remarkable achievements: fourth place in its category in 2009 when making its very first appearance at this event and second, third and fifth (Jakub: Juho, Voiullioz and Jan, respectively, all driving for Škoda Motorsport) places in 2010.

The Fabia Monte Carlo has black plastic body mouldings over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black roof, black wing mirror covers, a black radiator grille and darkened headlamps. Black is also present on the car's lightweight alloy wheels (Comet, 16 inches). The interior is either black or, optionally, black with red inserts and door panels. Both versions come with black headliner, sports seats, the "small" leather packet (perforated leather-clad steering wheel with red thread, handbrake handle and gearstick gaiter – also with red stitching in the red-interior version), inner sill strips and metal pedal covers.

The car's trim is based on the Ambiente version, and the new model will be available with an extensive, market-differentiated engine portfolio (including 1.2 HTP/44 kW, 1.2 12V HTP/51 kW, 1.4 16V/63 kW and 1.2 TDI CR/55 kW, 1.2 TSI in both power versions (i.e., 63 kW and 77 kW) and 1.6 TDI (55 kW, 66 kW and 77 kW)). All of the Fabia Monte Carlo models will be fitted with standard transmission, and will be available for customer orders from February 2011.
