Mladá Boleslav, September 22nd, 2011 – As of today, ŠKODA has its own crashtest facility. The manufacturer acquired the site in the Czech town of Uhelnice near Husí Lhota from TÜV-Süd. The investment is another measure ŠKODA has taken to permanently improve the active and passive safety of its model range. The test site is used for dynamic crash tests, including both complete vehicles as well as with individual vehicle components.
"The regular execution of crash-tests is part of the core competencies of an automobile manufacturer," emphasizes ŠKODA's board member for development, Eckhard Scholz. "With the purchase of our own facility, ŠKODA effectively strengthens its know-how in the area of passive safety. Even today, our model range offers an exemplary safety level. We want to protect that in a sustained manner. We need powerful capacities for the model offensive in the coming years. That is why we will continue to invest in Uhelnice."
The acquired crash-test facility is not an unknown test site for ŠKODA. The brand has been testing its vehicles here since the eighties, i.e. in collaboration with the TÜV-Süd (the ÚVMV in the history).
