Mladá Boleslav, April 15th, 2011 – Until mid-2012, ŠKODA will expand it capacities in its parent plant at Mladá Boleslav. At the beginning of the festivities on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its association with Volkswagen, the Czech manufacturer also used today's retrospective view for a strong signal pointing toward the future of the brand and symbolically launched the construction project. After the conclusion of the expansions, it is planned to produce a third model next to the top sellers Octavia and Fabia at the parent plant. At the same time, the production capacity for the Octavia is increased from 800 to 1,200 vehicles per day. Also, the maximum production capacity for the Fabia will remain unchanged at the level of 1,200 units per day.

"Until the year 2018, we want to increase our sales to at least 1.5 million units per year. The significant expansion of the capacities in our parent plant at Mladá Boleslav is an important measure for the implementation of this growth strategy. It is one of many investments in products, technologies, markets, and, last but not least, in our employees," emphasized Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, the chairman of the board of ŠKODA Auto.

Within the framework of the expansion measures, the car body construction of the Octavia will be broadly expanded. The Octavia assembly line will be lengthened and be able to produce 1,200 vehicles per day after the completion of the construction measures (the current capacity: 800 units per day). With that, the maximum production capacities of the models Fabia and Octavia will be equally high in the future, each amounting to 1,200 units per day. The main period for the construction work is planned for July 2011 to June 2012.
