Mladá Boleslav, September 8, 2011 – ŠKODA remains on its growth course in the second half of the year. Deliveries in the months from January to August 2011 grew 18.3 percent to a total of 583,600 units (January – August 2010: 493,200 vehicles). With 60,400 sold vehicles, the brand achieved a new record for the month of August (previous year: 55,900).
"ŠKODA keeps up its speed and continues to grow," explained Jürgen Stackmann, the ŠKODA board member for sales and marketing. "We are making excellent progress in terms of our Growth Strategy 2018 and are recording increases in all markets around the world. We want to continue on this course. Our model offensive will make an important contribution to that effort. In a few days, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, we will sound the starting signal to ŠKODA model offensive for the coming years."
In its home market of the Czech Republic, ŠKODA was able to increase sales 5.3 percent in August. In total, the brand delivered 4,000 vehicles in the Czech Republic in August.
In the other countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the brand was able to continue to expand its position in the past month: In the Ukraine, sales rose 6.8 percent. Slovenia grew 3.3 percent, Hungary 5.5 percent, and Croatia 77.5 percent.
In Western Europe the manufacturer recorded a slight increase of sales (plus 0.2 percent) to 21,400. Individual markets grew significantly stronger. In Norway, ŠKODA achieved an all-time record in August. Clear increases were recorded in Great Britain with a plus of 39.4 percent and in Sweden with a plus of 20.8 percent. In Spain, sales rose 10.5 percent, in France 11.1 percent, and in Finland 16.3 percent.
In the growth regions of China, India, and Russia, the brand's sales continued their dynamic growth in August. Deliveries in China increased 20.2 percent to 18,800 units in August. In Russia, ŠKODA achieved a plus of 12.0 percent compared to the same month of last year, recording 4,900 deliveries. In this context, the Octavia represented more than half of the sales volume in the Russian market. In India, sales grew 37.3 percent to 2,100 units in August.
But cars by the ŠKODA brand are experiencing a growing demand in other markets beyond Europe as well. In Australia, the brand scored the best sales result in the company's history.

Octavia (26,300 vehicles/plus 12.7 percent), Fabia (18,700 vehicles/plus 13.3 percent), Superb (8,100 vehicles/plus 2.1 percent), Yeti (4,000 vehicles/plus 0.9 percent), Roomster (2,600 vehicles/plus 10.8 percent).
