40 new jobs for people with mental health problems
Sixth facility of this type at Škoda Auto
Underscores the company's social commitment

Mladá Boleslav, 5 October 2010 - Škoda Auto has opened today another "Sheltered workshop" at its plant in Mladá Boleslav. This is in total the sixth facility of this type for the Czech car manufacturer. The company shows once more its social commitment and social responsibility for the region. For years, Škoda Auto has been supporting appropriate measures at its production sites. The new workshop is a pilot project in conjunction with charitable organizations in the region.

The new facility will create 40 jobs in total. The people who will be employed here are not able to pursue their previous occupation due to temporary or permanent disability. The jobs have been adapted to suit people with particular health problems. Staff for the facility has been selected in close cooperation with the non-profit organisation Fokus Mladá Boleslav. Škoda Auto has invested 6 million CZK (Euro 243 thousand) in modern equipment and adequate ergonomic design of the workshop. The result is one of the most modern facilities of its kind in the country.

"Škoda Auto takes its social responsibility very seriously, and I am glad that our sheltered workshops can help people and offer them a chance for a good job," said Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Škoda Auto.

Škoda Auto has been running sheltered workshops at its production sites for about five years. At present, up to 150 employees are working in these facilities. Since the first facility opened its doors in early 2006, a new workshop has been opened every year. Four workshops are already based in Mladá Boleslav, one in the Kvasiny factory.
