Vehicle electrician Martin Hlaváček awarded for very good performance
22 junior employees from twelve countries honored
Mladá Boleslav, November 3, 2010 – The Škoda Auto employee Martin Hlaváček has been awarded with the "Best Apprentice Award" of the Volkswagen Group. The 21- year old vehicle electrician from Mladá Boleslav received the coveted prize for his good performance within the course of his training and studies. The prize is awarded annually to the best apprentice of the Volkswagen Group worldwide. This year, 22 junior employees from twelve countries received the coveted prize, which has already been awarded for the tenth time. The tribute took place on the occasion of a meeting of the Group's board of directors and the global works council of the Group at the Volkswagen plant in Emden, Germany.
Martin Hlaváček of Škoda Auto was trained as an automobile electrician at the Mlada Bolesláv plant. Following his training, he completed a two-year study as an automobile electrician. "For Škoda Auto, the commendation of Martin Hlaváček is very pleasing. The award expresses the good training provided by the company and emphasizes the competence of our team. The entire team is happy for Martin Hlaváček," underlines Klaus Dierkes, the board member for human resources of Škoda Auto.
The tribute to all prize winners was carried out by the chairman of the board of the Volkswagen AG, Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, the board member for human resources, Dr. Horst Neumann, and the president of the global works council of the Volkswagen Group, Bernd Osterloh. Prof. Winterkorn pointed out: "Any company having junior employees such as the ones honored today does not have to worry about its future. That is why we invest consistently and at all locations in the world in the training of young people." For the first time ever, the Volkswagen Group will be in charge of more than 10,000 apprentices across all age groups and locations this year.
After their return to their home locations, the prize winners will begin individual support programs. Furthermore, as a 'thank-you' for their special commitment, the 22 honored apprentices were also invited to a varied program during their six-day stay in Germany. The 19- to 30-year old employees visited the plant and port in Emden, where new vehicles of the company are loaded and unloaded. Other destinations consisted of the island of Norderney, the tidal flats, the Kunsthalle Emden, and the city of Bremen. After the award ceremony, the young men and women tested the new generation Passat, manufactured at the Emden plant, on a vehicle test circuit.
