Škoda Auto has confirmed its attendance at this year's Moscow MotorShow (25 – 29 August, 2010), where it will stage national premieres of its flagship Superb Combi, Fabia RS, the facelifted Fabia and the Fabia S2000 (rally car). Showcasing its complete portfolio of vehicles manufactured in the Kaluga plant (Russia).

Celebrating its national premiere, the Superb Combi will be on show featuring the popular petrol engine 2.0 TSI (147 kW) and state-of-the-art six-speed automatic DSG transmission. A logical next step in the Superb line, the vehicle offers an optimum combination of versatility and elegance to expand Škoda's tradition of estates to the upper-class segment. With its timeless design and an interior offering enough space for any occasion, the Superb is an ideal vehicle for drivers requiring a comfort and reliability in all circumstances.

The Fabia RS (the latest sports version of the Fabia) premieres a double-charged four-cylinder petrol engine (1.4 TSI). Although its volume is just 1.4 litres, this brand new unit offers 132 kW of power, largely thanks to a sophisticated dual compressor-and-turbocharger that makes it possible to deliver power smoothly across the rev range. The car's maximum speed of 224 km/h (226 km/h with the estate version (Combi)) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds (both versions) are guaranteed to offer a sporty driving experience. Despite this, consumption is only 6.4 l/ 100 km, and so the Fabia RS boasts an impressive combination of high power, maximum fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. One of the major innovations is the XDS system, which brakes the inside front wheel in bends to increase torque on the outside front wheel.

In connection with the design of the Fabia RS, Škoda Auto has also modified the design of its rally car Fabia S2000 – under new FIA regulations for the S2000 category, the Fabia S2000 has been widened to 1,820 mm and its air intake and exhaust systems have been redesigned for increased power.

Besides the new Superb Combi and Fabia RS, Škoda Auto's premieres in Russia includes the facelifted Fabia which has an all-new front resulting in a more dynamic look. The facelift involves changes in the look of all the respective model versions and, more importantly, technological improvements and a new engine portfolio made up of seven petrol and three diesel engines (from 51 kW to 77 kW). The top-end unit is a four-cylinder engine (1.2 TSI) that is available in two versions – 63 kW and 77 kW.

A joint venture between Škoda Auto and VW, the Kaluga plant was opened in late 2007 to assemble a part of Škoda Auto's model portfolio. Present in Russia since 1908, Škoda is now very successful in this huge market, and its sales double every year (7,537 vehicles in 2005, 14,835 vehicles in 2006, 27,535 vehicles in 2007). 2008 saw record growth – 50,733 vehicles. Despite the global economic crisis resulting in big market slumps, the brand sold 33,002 vehicles in 2009 and 20,865 vehicles over the first six months of 2010.

Škoda Auto's presentation in the Moscow Exhibition Centre is situated in Hall 14, Pavilion 3, Position C-201. Škoda Auto's press conference is going to take place at its stand on 25 August, 2010 at 11:45.
