Kategorie: Události

For the past nine years, India has ranked among Škoda Auto's most important markets. The importance attached by the Czech carmaker to this market is reflected in its stand at the International Auto Expo in New Delhi. Visitors can look forward not only to cars from the current portfolio available on the Indian market, but also to a newcomer offering extraordinary potential – the Yeti, Škoda's first SUV.

The Yeti is to take its Indian bow at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The Škoda stand will also feature examples of the Fabia and Octavia, known as the Laura in India.

The main draw will be India's introduction to the Yeti, demonstrating the readiness of Škoda's first compact SUV to enter the Indian market. Professionals and the general public alike will be able to explore the advanced four-wheel drives fitted with 1.8 TSI/118 kW and 2.0 TDI CR/103 kW engines.

The Aurangabad plant operated by Škoda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL) and VW India's Pune plant will showcase, among other things, the locally produced Fabia Elegance, the Octavia/Laura in its top-of-the-range Laurin & Klement trim level, and a high-end Superb with a 3.6 FSI V6 engine and 4WD featuring the 4th-generation Haldex clutch system.

When it comes to Škoda's European models, visitors to India's biggest motor show will be treated to the dynamically tuned Fabia Sportline and the environmentally-friendly GreenLine. The Octavia RS with 2.0 TSI petrol engine, offering a generous output of 147 kW (200 bhp), is a reminder of the sports tradition in Škoda's long history, which stretches back for more than a hundred years.

According to Reinhard Fleger, Škoda Auto BOD Member for Sales and Marketing , operations on the Indian market are integral to Škoda's future success: "entering a new emerging market full of promise is always a great challenge for us. Selecting the right strategy, offering relevant products and finding qualified personnel are essential factors. We have achieved all this here in India very well, as evidenced by our results. We have enjoyed nine flourishing years here: we are constantly marketing new products, expanding the sales network and increasing the number of cars we sell. I am confident that the experience we have gained in India will help us tremendously as Škoda pushes further eastwards."

More than 80,000 cars have been sold by Škoda in India since it entered this market in November 2001. The current portfolio features four model lines – the Fabia, Octavia (Octavia Tour in Europe), Laura (Octavia in Europe) and Superb. In the second half of 2009 in particular, there was a major surge in year-on-year sales (by as much as 69% in November), mainly thanks to the Superb and the Laura (Octavia). Škoda India currently has a network of 62 dealerships. The assembly plant in Aurangabad, covering an area of 300,000 m2, has a production capacity of 30,000 cars a year.
