378,747 vehicles delivered to customers
Worldwide growth ahead 15% from January to June 2010

In the first half-year of 2010, Škoda Auto has reached a new sales record with 378,747 vehicles sold worldwide. This means that sales numbers have increased about 15 percent compared to same period of last year. In June alone, 71,320 customers decided to purchase a Škoda (+ 8.3 percent).

"Škoda continues its growth trend with the new record numbers. In doing so, the brand profits from high demand in China in particular, but also from that in many Western and Eastern European markets. However, in some countries, the base is still very weak after the difficult year of 2009. Therefore, the second half-year of 2010 will bring great challenges. But we are on an excellent path", emphasizes Reinhard Fleger, Member of the Board responsible for Sales.

The Chinese market has a large share in this positive result. Specifically, the growth in deliveries in June 2010 accounted for more than 51 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. This corresponds to 15,158 vehicles. From January to June, 84,135 vehicles were delivered in China, i.e. about 82,3 percent more than in the first half-year of the previous year.

But other Škoda markets developed remarkably well for the company, too. In the overseas regions, it was possible to increase sales almost 50 percent in the first six months to about 25,000 units. European markets seem to have rebound. In June alone, Škoda grew 48.2 percent in this area. In Russia, twice as many cars were sold compared to the same month of the previous year. In Western Europe (excluding Germany) as well, the brand increased its sales 34.5 percent to 117,283 vehicles compared to the first half-year of 2009. Škoda recorded significant growth numbers in Great Britain (+ 61.2 percent) and Spain (with the Canary Islands; + 50 percent)

But on the domestic market, too, the development has been positive for Škoda: 5,743 vehicles were delivered in June. That means a cumulative increase of the sales figures of 16.6 percent above those of 2009.

The second-largest sales market of the traditional Czech brand (after China) continues to be Germany. In June, 13,343 Škoda vehicles were registered here. Škoda was able to increase its registration figures to a total of 67,556 units and thus to remain as the no. 1 imported brand in Germany.

The most favourite Škoda worldwide is the Octavia. From January to June 2010, sales of this model increased 20 percent to 158,024 cars. Sales of the compact SUV Yeti (25,868 vehicles) and the Superb have also enjoyed an outstanding development. It was possible to increase the sales numbers of Škoda's flagship about 150 percent to 47,830 cars due to the Superb Combi having been re-introduced in many markets. Furthermore, 111,967 Fabia, 14,900 Roomster, and 18,738 Octavia Tour were delivered to customers.
