Mladá Boleslav, 29 May 2014 – This year will mark ŠKODA's fourth appearance in the Kitzbühel Alpine Rally. The Czech brand will be sending the ŠKODA Felicia and ŠKODA 1000 MB Rallye to the starting line who will be joined by an expected 185 other participants in Hahnenkamm town. The 27th Alpine Rally takes place from 29 to 31 May.

The Kitzbühel Alpine Rally is not only one of the oldest, but also one of the most beautiful regions to host a classic car rally. "The Alpine Rally illustrates the appeal of historic automobiles. This year ŠKODA will be presenting two highlights and particularly emotional models from our company's 119-year history," says Michal Velebný, Coordinator of the ŠKODA Museum's restoration workshop.

The ŠKODA 1000 MB Rally from 1967 is a true ŠKODA racer on the track. The rally car differs from the standard ŠKODA 1000 MB with its additional light ramps and other sports modifications. Among other things, the engine was adapted for use in sport, and the model has sports seats with four-point seat belts. The vehicle going to the starting line in Kitzbühel has taken part in numerous races in the past, including the prestigious long distance London-Mexico in 1995. The 1000MB Rally features a four-cylinder rear engine with 1300 cc displacement and Weber carburettors. The engine output is 90hp with a maximum speed of 170 km/h.

The turquoise-green ŠKODA Felicia convertible from 1961 is expected to be a top figure driving along the charming Alpine panorama as in the two years before. With its elegant body style, the distinctive tail fin and the striking colour, the open vehicle is an enchanting ŠKODA representative of the 1960s. The vehicle comes from the historical corporate collection in Mladá Boleslav and is a regular visitor to renowned classic car rallies. The convertible built between 1959 and 1964 is becoming increasingly popular among collectors. Under the bonnet is a 50hp strong four-cylinder engine with a 1089cc displacement, reaching a top speed of 130 km/h.

This is the fourth time that ŠKODA will be taking part in the Kitzbühel Alpine Rally. This year for the first time, vehicles produced before 1985 have been entered in the race, and a total of 187 automotive rarities representing seven decades will be at the starting line. In addition to the new year of construction limit, a fantastic new programme has been organised. There are now 30-second starts in all stages, with the addition of new trials.

A newly set distance of 600km has been prepared for the participants. The prologue begins on Thursday morning (29 May). The highlight of the event will be on Friday (30 May) when the cars will drive along the Grossglockner alpine road to the 2407m high Fuscher Törl. On Saturday (May 31) a pure Tyrolean stage passes through the Inn Valley to the outer Zillertal and to a town trial in medieval Rattenberg. The conclusion and climax will be on Saturday afternoon, as the drivers approach the finish line in front of thousands of enthusiastic spectators in Kitzbühel town centre.
