Perth, 8 October, 2011 – In contrast with Friday, Day 2 of the Rally of Scotland was "typically Scottish" – the sky was cloudy and it rained all day long. Extremely soaked and muddy, the track was a big challenge indeed. ŠKODA UK Motorsport's Andreas Mikkelsen (NOR) coped best with the tough conditions – having put in an excellent performance, he has moved up to the lead and is 51 seconds ahead of Bouffier before Sunday, the final day of the event. ŠKODA Motorsport's Juho Hänninen is third (another second down), his teammate Jan Kopecký is seventh.

The drivers of ŠKODA's factory team kept trying to find the right rhythm all day long. Realising that there was no space for mistakes on the soaked track, they played it rather careful. Hänninen dropped down the standings to fifth place during the morning part but then got back to the game and is third after Day 2, only one second behind secondplaced Bouffier. Struggling hard to find the best pace, Kopecký fell down to tenth place in the first half of Saturday's programme, but was significantly faster after the service break and is seventh before Sunday. However, both factory drivers were stopped on their way up the standings when Saturday's last stage was cancelled due to unfavourable on-track conditions.

Juho Hänninen: "Our performance this morning was not really excellent, it took us a long time to find the right rhythm. Then we made a few changes to the car setting as a result of which we felt much better and started improving step by step."

Jan Kopecký: "Our ambitions are certainly higher. I have never driven in conditions like this, it's extremely difficult and it's a completely new experience for me. Yet we got more and more confident throughout the day, so we are not giving it up."

The programme of the final day of the Rally of Scotland, Sunday, includes seven stages (88 kilometres) and promises to offer a fierce battle for every yard of the track, because the points to be won in Scotland are extremely valuable for both the Drivers competition and the Manufacturers Cup.
