Mikolajki, 30 September, 2012 – Esapekka Lappi and his co-driver Janne Ferm driving for ŠKODA Motorsport dominated the 69th Rajd Polski, the penultimate event of this year´s European Championship. This year´s Finnish Rally Champions thus converted their debut in a factory ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 into the best possible result.

Commenting on fielding the new Finnish talent, Head of ŠKODA Motorsport Michal Hrabánek says: "Esapekka has demonstrated his enormous talent. The way he handled his debut in a new team and in a rally completely unknown to him is indeed admirable. We have tested new conditions and a brand new crew and we are satisfied with all aspects of our appearance in Poland."

Looking back at his debut for the ŠKODA Motorsport team, Esapekka Lappi says: "Everything was new to me and Janne – the team, the vehicle and this event. I believe we have put in a good performance, everything worked perfectly, and Janne and I wish to thank the whole ŠKODA Motorsport team for this opportunity and top-class support throughout this rally."

Setting the pace throughout the event, Lappi & Ferm were fastest in 10 of 13 stages in total. Taking place in the surroundings of the Mazur Lakes and celebrating 69 years of its existence this year, this gravel event is Europe´s second oldest rally and was the penultimate event of the 2012 European Championship.

One of ŠKODA Motorsport´s factory crews, Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula, won this year´s European Championship with several events still to go, the other factory crew, Jan Kopecký & Pavel Dresler in a ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000, are this year´s Czech Rally Champions.
