Mladá Boleslav, 3 October, 2012 – The new Czech Rally Champion Jan Kopecký and his co-driver Pavel Dresler will take on a new role at the upcoming Příbram Rally – driving a ŠKODA Fabia Monte Carlo, they will act as a safety crew. The idea that these two factory drivers should drive a safety car is a result of efforts aimed at enhancing safety at rally events. Kopecký & Dresler have already become this year´s Czech Rally Champions, mainly thanks to winning five consecutive rallies of the Czech series.

Head of ŠKODA Motorsport Michal Hrabánek explains: "Permanent enhancement of safety on rally tracks is a must, and we will gladly support the joint efforts of the Czech Championship promoter and the event organiser. By winning the championship title, our team has achieved the maximum possible result on Czech tracks this year, and I wish to congratulate Jan and Pavel on this achievement. I am positive that they have a lot of experience that they can contribute to the overall safety enhancement efforts."

Commenting on the end of this season, Jan Kopecký says: "First of all, Pavel and I are pleased to have secured the championship title with one event still to go. We will take on a new role this time, and we believe that we can at least partly contribute to enhancing the safety of our beautiful sport. Generally, it is important to boost the safety enhancement efforts in rallying."

Jan Kopecký is the Czech face of the ´Road for Safety´ programme launched by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) with the objective of increasing the safety of road traffic. The patron of this long-term project in the Czech Republic is the Czech Automobile Club.
