In Loutraki, 18. June, 2011 – Day 2 of the Acropolis Rally in Greece offered even more difficult conditions than the first day. The air temperatures were over 30 degrees Celsius (nearly 70 inside the cars!) and the track was even more broken than the previous day. Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula fought their way up to the lead after Stage 1 to defend their position until the end of Saturday's programme. After two days, they are four minutes ahead of Sousa who is second. Driving patiently today, their teammates Hermann Gassner & Kathi Wüstenhagen have moved up top fourth place.

Juho Hänninen was in a good mood after Day 2: "We knew that the track would be even more difficult than on Day 1, and so it's really great to be in the lead. We are well ahead of the opposition, but you never know on these broken roads here. Our ambition tomorrow is to defend the first position."

Having moved one place higher, too, Hermann Gassner says: "There's no point taking too much risk, we are very happy about our today's performance."

The Acropolis Rally ends on Sunday with five stages, 65 km in total. The winner will be known at about three o'clock Central European Time.
