Las Palmas, 23 March, 2013 – 4-3-2. That is how one might characterise ŠKODA´s appearance at the Rally Islas Canarias this year. ŠKODA Motorsport has won the rally for the fourth consecutive time and Jan Kopecký has completed a hat-trick of victories at this event. With two appearances in this year´s ERC, Jan Kopecký & Pavel Dresler have achieved two victories and are top of the ERC standings.

The "Canary hat-trick" winner Jan Kopecký was over the moon about the achievement: "The local rally is one of our most favourite ones – a high-quality surface, lovely tracks and many fans. ŠKODA has won here for the fourth time in a row, and we have achieved three of these victories – that´s great! Pavel and I wish to thank the whole team for preparing the vehicle absolutely perfectly."

Commenting on the Rally Islas Canarias, ŠKODA Motorsport Manager Pavel Hortek says: "Jan put in a very mature performance here. He proceeded perfectly in line with all our tactical instructions, did not get upset by the start of the rally that was not really ideal and now he is celebrating his third victory here. Jan and Pavel are the right crew to top the European Championship standings. The results achieved by the Fabia Super 2000 at this rally speak for themselves, and the Rally Islas Canarias is thus probably our most successful event."

Having won the Rally Islas Canarias in 2010, last year and this year, Jan Kopecký has completed a hat-trick of "Canary" victories, and ŠKODA has won this event for the fourth time in a row (Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula in 2011). The local rally has thus become the most successful event in the history of the Fabia Super 2000 project as well as for the ŠKODA brand.

Kopecký & Dresler won the opening event of this year´s ERC – the Jänner Rally in Austria and now, after winning in Las Palmas, they are top of the European Championship standings. Second place on the Canary Islands was taken by Craig Breen in a Peugeot, Luis Monzón (of the Canary Islands) in a Mini came third.

The European Championship continues over April 25 -27 – this year´s fourth event takes place on the biggest of the Azores Islands, Sao Miguel.
