Salou, 22 October 2011 – Red Bull ŠKODA's Hänninen & Markkula are near winning the SWRC title after Day 2 of RACC Rally Espana, the last event of this year's series. After three fourths of the event's total number of kilometres, Finland's crew in a Fabia Super 2000 are second, only 0.4 sec behind leader Al-Attiyah in a Ford. Martin Prokop (also in a Ford) is third, a further 46 sec behind them. Hermann Gassner & Timo Gottschalk have moved up to fifth place.

In contrast with Friday, Day 2 of RACC Rally Espana offered a lovely sunny weather. The conditions on the track that is full of highly technical sections were near the optimum, and the fans must have enjoyed particularly today's longest stage (46 kilometres) that the drivers did twice. After Otto Tänak's crash in Friday's Stage 1, the main favourite for winning the whole series this year, Juho Hänninen, is concentrating on his own performance and has apparently only one goal in Spain – secure the World Championship title. Having put in a better performance than yesterday, Hermann Gassner has moved up one rank higher and is fifth before the final day.

Juho Hänninen: "We are still focused on one goal and are doing our best to avoid mistakes."

Hermann Gassner: "Our today's performance was better than that we put in yesterday, and also the conditions today were much more acceptable. We are happy with our today's result."

RACC Rally Espana ends on Sunday with the final six stages (103 kilometres). The 2011 SWRC Champion will be known upon the end of the event.
