Istanbul, 7 July 2012 – Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula of ŠKODA Motorsport (factory team) are coping best with difficult conditions of the Turkey Rally so far. Driving a factory Fabia Super 2000, they are in the lead after two days, 43 seconds ahead of their nearest rivals.
The first gravel rally of this year's European Championship is taking place on dusty tracks and at high air temperatures. However, the conditions are equally difficult for all the teams, and Juho Hänninen knows the rally is not yet over: "We are in the lead, which is good before tomorrow's final leg, but the tracks are very slippery and the risk of a tyre defect is high. We have to go fast but play it careful. Coping with the high temperature is very exhausting, too."
Turkey's Yagiz Avci in a Ford who knows the local tracks very well is second so far, Luca Rosseti in another ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 who tops the current standings of the Turkish Championship is third.
The Turkey Rally ends on Sunday with the final six stages (119 kilometres).
