Mladá Boleslav, April 27th, 2012 – ŠKODA will exhibit four outstanding representatives of the brand's motorsport history at the "Classic Days" in Magny-Cours, France, next weekend.

"Classic Days", very popular with fans of vintage automobiles, will also see the cars performing on Magny-Cours' legendary race track. Among them will be a 1957 1100 OHC, a 1974 200 RS, a 1968 1000 MB and a 1964 1000 MB Formula 3 racer, all from ŠKODA's collection.
A real rarity is the 1957 ŠKODA 1100 OHC: only two exist today. The 1100 OHC was built in Mladá Boleslav and took part in several races in Czechoslovakia, as it was then, and abroad in the late 1950s. The car weighs a mere 550 kg, top speed is somewhere between 190 and 200 kph. Fed by two Weber twin carburettors, the water-cooled four-cylinder engine has a displacement of 1089 ccm and puts out 92 hp at 7700 rpm.

Another exhibit with a history of its own is a Formula 3 car based on the 1964 ŠKODA 1000 MB. This circuit racer counted Czechoslovakian namesakes Jaroslav Bobek and Václav Bobek among its drivers, who scored numerous successes with this car, with their wins in Brno becoming legendary. The car is powered by a 998 ccm four-cylinder engine with a power output of 76.5 hp at 7550 rpm. Top speed is 210 kph.

The third historic racer under starter orders at Magny-Cours is a 1968 ŠKODA 1000 MB. It was driven by Ota Landecký, who was especially successful in the 1960s and 1970s. Later, the car was entered in various vintage car races, among them the 1995 London-Mexico rally and the "Shield of Africa". A 1,300 ccm four-cylinder engine drives the car's rear wheels and puts out around 90 hp, allowing a top speed of 170 kph.

Finally, the 1974 Škoda RS 200 is a car in a class of its own. Only three Škoda RS 200 were ever built. The car debuted on June 1st, 1974, at the Barum rally, where it created quite a stir not just because of its engine, but also because of its aerodynamic aluminium body with lowered roof and distinctive fenders. Its two-litre carburettor engine put out 163 hp at 6000 rpm.

"The Classic Days at Magny-Cours are a fantastic vintage car show. We are very happy to be able to take part with four very special cars," says Eva Ticová, head of the ŠKODA Auto Museum restoration shop. "They are outstanding representatives of our brand's successful motorsport history," she added.

ŠKODA Auto has been active in motorsports for 111 years. 2011 was the brand's most successful year in motorsports to date.

Magny-Cours ranks among the race tracks with the proudest heritage in the world, with a history reaching back to 1959. This year's is the fifth edition of the "Classic Days", which last year saw 1,139 cars taking pat and more than 20,000 spectators attending.
