Mladá Boleslav, May 3rd, 2012 – It was ŠKODA as official main sponsor of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship who had set things in motion: the iPhone app developed jointly with the international federation for the 2011 IIHF World Championship had proved tremendously popular, clocking up 130,000 downloads worldwide. For the 2012 IIHF World Championship in Finland and Sweden, ŠKODA and the IIHF now present their jointly updated smartphone app "2012 IIHF WM App powered by ŠKODA", available for the iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.

Effective immediately, smartphone owners can access all important information on the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship directly and free of charge via the new '2012 IIHF WM App powered by ŠKODA'. The app delivers live results, with a push option available, standings, team and player profiles, game venues, World Championship news, highlight videos, games, ŠKODA information and lots more. The new app will work with any major smartphone operating system such as iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.

True to our 'Simply Clever' brand slogan, we are now bringing this expertise to bear at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in a practical and simultaneously entertaining fashion.
