Mladá Boleslav, May 29th, 2012 – ŠKODA AUTO will again take part in this year's Alpine Rally in Kitzbühel. The Czech brand will be represented in the starting field of classic cars by a ŠKODA Felicia Cabrio from the year 1961. The Alpine Rally will already take place for the 25th time this year. It will start with a prologue on May 31st in Kitzbühel, while the finish will take place on June 2nd, also in Kitzbühel.

With the ŠKODA Felicia Cabrio, the Czech car manufacturer will send a truly beautiful "automotive specimen" from its collection to the 25th race in Kitzbühel, Austria. The convertible was built from 1959 to 1964. A total of 14,863 vehicles with the type designation '994' rolled off the assembly line. Today, only a few models are still in existence. The ŠKODA Felicia Cabrio has a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1,221 cm³, delivering 55 PS.

"The Felicia Cabrio is exactly the right car for this attractive classic car rally," says Eva Ticová, the head of the restoration shop at the ŠKODA Auto Museum. "The car was repaired in our shop and will surely be an eye-catcher against the Alpine panorama."

ŠKODA will participate in the Alpine rally at Kitzbühel for the second time after 2011. Last year, the Czech brand sent a ŠKODA Tudor 1101 from 1948 to the starting line. The rally is among the largest and most popular classic car events in Europe. Since 1988, classic cars from seven decades have been participating in the annual race. In this year's anniversary race, a total of 430 kilometers will be covered on mountainous roads in Tyrol and in the region around Salzburg. The 60 kilometer long prologue on Thursday, May 31st, will be followed by a 230 kilometer long stage in Tyrol on Friday. Spectacular sections on the High-Alpine Road at the Großglockner await the participants on Saturday, June 2nd. The final highlight will be the vehicle parade and award ceremony in the center of Kitzbühel on Saturday afternoon. It is expected that approximately 300 historic vehicles will participate; for the 2012 rally, vehicles manufactured prior to 1976 are admitted to the rally.
